Bringing our own learnings regarding alternative pedagogies into the content and design of mainstream educational material is a priority for Nirantar. Nirantar has been invited to be part of several committees constituted by the NCERT: a
Gender Focus Group set up during the National Curriculum Framework 2005 process; committees to formulate curricula, and for the visualisation of syllabi and writing of textbooks. We have attempted to bring the knowledge/ research emerging from women’s studies departments and feminist scholars in different disciplines into the syllabi and content of school education. The textbooks we have been part of writing have reached out to over five lakh children across the country.
Nirantar has also researched the content of school textbooks, with its study titled
Feminist Regimes: A Feminist Critique of Nation and Identity.
