Training - A Glimpse

Nirantar conducts trainings on range of issues. Through trainings, Nirantar develops alternative, feminist educational pedagogy for women and adolescent girls. Nirantar develops new content, teaching-learning methodologies and activities that are grounded in women's lives and give space to their ways of learnings. Activities used in trainings demonstrate principles of an interactive teaching-learning pedagogy.

Nirantar provides training and field inputs in the following areas:

Inputs to help groups develop appropriate curriculum and teaching-learning material for adults, especially women and adolescent girls.

Inputs to organisations in planning, implementing and reviewing non-formal educational strategies.

Training teachers of non-formal education centres, to build perspective on issues of gender, caste, and class and skill development.

Creative inputs on language, numeracy and social science teaching.

Gender orientation for teachers, lawyers, police personel, students in the formal stream. Orientation is done by using activities like group discussion, case studies, stories, text book analysis, films, opinion polls, relooking at the past.

Trainings to build capacities of grassroots groups to produce their own material, including newspapers, broadsheets and booklets. This includes aspects like rural journalism, reporting, editing and production. We also train groups in the specialised skill of writing for neo-literates and in writing with a gender perspective.

Training and orientation for health workers, literacy volunteers and teachers in health education - to build perspective, provide information on the human anatomy, create awareness on reproductive health, adolescence, sexuality and violence against women.
