Capacity Building |
Nirantar invests considerable resources in building capacities of the local Sahajani team as well as the support team based in Delhi. Over the years a committed and responsible team of facilitators has evolved: their role clearly goes beyond teaching literacy. This has proved challenging as often the two tasks – teaching and grassroots activism – require different skills sets. However, over time the facilitators have grown into their roles and they now teach as well as intervene in cases of violence, liaise with the local administrations and provide the community with a range of information. We have focused on building the capacities of the team, including improving facilitators’ skills. The inputs have been primarily in the areas of perspective building and developing pedagogic skills.
